LUNAR-X at the Euro Space Center: Behind the Scenes of Dreamwall's Visual Creation
In the summer of 2025, the Euro Space Center inaugurated its newest attraction: LUNAR-X. Designed to offer the public a realistic spaceflight simulation, this interactive installation invites visitors to step into the shoes of astronauts bound for the Moon. While the overall design, scenography, and project management were led by the Hovertone agency, Dreamwall was brought in for a very specific mission: designing the digital visuals that simulate the external environment.
Our creative team took charge of the 3D modeling and animation for all screens inside the space capsule. The objective was to provide technically accurate virtual environments to support the flight illusion. Here is a look behind the scenes of this visual production.
What is the concept behind this lunar flight simulation?
The LUNAR-X experience is built on a clear concept: taking a crew of visitors from Earth to the Moon.
The capsule's physical scenography required visual content capable of deceiving the visitor's eye. Our 3D designers built all environments within the Unreal Engine rendering engine, divided into three distinct phases: terrestrial, space, and lunar.
The room's technical configuration involved broadcasting our imagery across three screens mimicking lateral viewports, three overhead control screens, and a central floor projection forming an "iris".
From the Libin base to the lunar landing: How does the journey unfold?
The creation and animation work followed the key stages of the flight:
- The Libin launch pad: Before liftoff, the viewports display the external environment of the Euro Space Center, faithfully modeled with its local vegetation. Wind blowing through the foliage, heat distortion, and steam effects simulate the engines powering up.
- Liftoff and orbit insertion: At ignition, dense smoke envelops the windows to support the sensation of ascent. Once in low Earth orbit, the floor iris opens to reveal Earth, centered on Europe, marking the transition into the vacuum of space.
- Transit and lunar approach: The journey concludes with the Moon appearing in the central iris, followed by a landing phase where the ground approaches smoothly until final contact, revealing a space station and exploration lunar rovers active on the surface.
How can scientific requirements and physical simulation be reconciled in 3D?
The visual illusion only works if it rests on credible foundations. For LUNAR-X, every 3D asset was validated against strict criteria, avoiding any purely fictional interpretation.
The modeling of the rocket—the central visual element of the project—came from a direct request by the Euro Space Center's scientific team. Rather than inventing a fictional vehicle, our digital artists merged the designs of prominent contemporary launchers, combining the aesthetics of Blue Origin missions and the Artemis program. This technical hybridization anchors the attraction within current space exploration reality.
Visual credibility also relies on respecting the laws of physics:
- Light management: In the vacuum of space, the lack of atmosphere eliminates light scattering. The rendering under Unreal Engine reproduces this characteristic harshness, defined by stark contrasts and sharp shadows on the structures.
- Trajectory accuracy: Our team researched orbital mechanics to accurately display Earth and the Moon at the correct angles, matching the capsule's theoretical position throughout the entire scenario.

While the attraction relies on cutting-edge graphic technologies, its success stems above all from the mastery of the teams shaping it. At Dreamwall, we believe that technology must fade behind the user experience. Our artists focused on their core craft: adapting visual storytelling to an unconventional screen architecture, without intervening in physical manufacturing or infrastructure engineering.
